Precision CNC Machining

01What we machine

Machining at Ortogon runs on a Haas 5-axis machining centre with simultaneous axis motion: complex geometries are finished in a single setup, eliminating stack-up error between fixtures.

Our focus is the hard-to-machine, high-strength alloys demanded by defence and aerospace. From one-off prototypes and first articles to repeat batches of several hundred, every job follows the same quality plan.

02Materials

Raw material certificates (EN 10204 3.1) are mandatory for every batch; the material lot is tied to the part serial number in the shipping file.

  • Titanium Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5, 3.7164) — structural fittings, high-strength pins, mechanism parts
  • Aerospace aluminium 7075-T6 / 6061-T6 (3.4365) — avionics chassis, enclosures, load-bearing profiles, fixtures
  • Precipitation-hardening steel 17-4 PH / 15-5 PH (1.4542) — high-torque drive parts, shafts and bushings
  • Stainless steel 316L / 304 (1.4404) — corrosion-resistant housings, field equipment parts

04Quality and traceability

Critical dimensions are inspected 100%. First article inspection (FAI), in-process records and final inspection are issued for every batch; CMM 3D verification ships with the parts.

We publish our certification status as it is — held certificates and those in progress are shown separately on the home page.

05What we need for a quote

First engineering feedback and DFM review within 24 hours of receiving the drawing.

  • 3D model (STEP / IGES) and dimensioned 2D drawing (PDF / DWG)
  • Material, heat treatment and surface finish requirements
  • Quantity, lead-time expectation and repeat-order outlook
  • Critical dimensions and inspection report format (customer template if any)

Frequently asked questions

Do you take single-piece prototypes?
Yes. Prototypes and first articles follow the same quality plan as production; an inspection report is issued even for one part.
Does titanium need extra lead time?
Ti-6Al-4V is machined at lower cutting speeds than aluminium due to its low thermal conductivity; lead time is quoted per part.
Do you work with customer-supplied material?
Yes; material arriving with certificate and lot data is accepted and entered into the traceability record.
